Struggling To Meet Your Goals? Persistence.

We all have goals. For over 23 years at Get Life Coaching, people have come to us for various reasons.

Some want to change the direction of their lives, others want to overcome their past, some desire to find love, and some of us want to start our own businesses. Whatever our goals may be, one thing is for sure: we all want to achieve them.

However, achieving goals is not always easy. In fact, it can be quite difficult at times. This is why persistence is so important. I can share that in my journey to success, there were many opportunities to quit and give up. Oh, heck, it would have felt easier at the moment, BUT I knew if I quit now, I will quit again and again, and I will never achieve the life I want.

Persistence is defined as “the continual and determined effort to do something despite difficulty or opposition.” In other words, it’s the ability to keep going even when things get tough.

And things WILL get tough when you’re working towards your goals. You will face obstacles and challenges along the way. You will feel like giving up. But if you are persistent, you will find a way to overcome these challenges and reach your goal.

So how can you be more persistent in achieving your goals?

Set expectations – M. Scott Peck wrote, “Life is difficult.” Once you stop thinking it should be easy, it becomes easier. Anyone can set goals, but achieving them is where the gold is and requires grit and determination.

Never settle – Settling is one of the great diseases we face. We have been conditioned to settle for average. NO ONE WAS BORN FOR AVERAGE.

Get a coach – Yes, of course, I would say this. Not because I am a coach but because the road is too rocky, and why risk it? Having someone who KNOWS how and believes they can get you to your goal is a game changer. We all need someone who believes in us!

Never ever give up – I saw those words on a TV screen in my early days of recovery from drugs and alcohol. I was on the verge of a relapse, and there were those words in front of me. They forever changed my life and have become a core belief of mine. No matter how hard it gets or how slow I move, I just don’t give up ever.

Adopt and live these FOUR STEPS, and I promise you that achieving your goals will become the new norm.
