Getting To Know The Team Behind The Scenes Of Aging In Place Senior Care Services
Years ago, I went through so much, caring for my parents. It was so difficult, and it made me realize that I could use my personal experiences to help others who feel overwhelmed and lost in trying to care for their loved ones. Fortunately, I have found an amazing staff to support my endeavors. I’m going to attempt to highlight my fabulous staff and some of the feedback from a few of our caregivers and clients.
Kristin Stetler Donovan, Owner & Director
Throughout my life I have been passionate about caring for others. As a young girl, I volunteered. As a young woman, I had the honor of caring for my mother and my father. Currently, I am honored to hold the title of Mother to three beautiful children! I am married to a wonderful husband who supports and encourages me in my personal and business endeavors. I was born and raised in Delaware and will more than likely always reside in Delaware. I graduated from University of Delaware with a BAAS in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication. Then I joined MBNA, where I worked and managed for many years before leaving to raise my children and care for my parents.
Now that my children are older and my parents have passed away, it only seemed logical that I take my 25 years of management and caregiving skills and begin a new chapter of my life. I lost my parents and a sibling within a three-year timespan. This inspired me to open my agency and serve those who were tired and in need of additional support. No one knows better what being a caregiver for a loved one entails than someone who has been through it.
My desire in life is to find a way to help as many people as possible. Now, together with my staff, we are doing just that.
Ensuring safety, preserving dignity, and serving respectfully are our utmost priorities! Quality care starts with a careful and meticulous hiring process, hiring only those who meet our high standards and are truly committed to the families we serve. Our staff has a unique ability to match people with just the right caregiver: One who is compatible with our clients’ care requirements, lifestyle, and personality. There is a perfect caregiver for everyone, and we won’t stop until we find the perfect match!
Charlie Donovan, Office Manager
I met Kristin Stetler, now Kristin Donovan, in February of 2014, when Age Advantage of Delaware was in its infancy. It has now been rebranded as Aging in Place Senior Care Services, and is independently owned and operated, over 12 years later. I was enamored by her personality, as well as her courage to open her own business, and the passion she had for it. Her devotion and compassion for people was undeniable. Whether it was for her own children, her senior clients and families, or her staff, I had never met such a devoted, caring person. That’s why, in February 2015, I asked for her hand in marriage. I assisted Kristin in her business any way that I could, while continuing my own career as a landscape designer. The following year, we decided I should join her full-time in supporting her mission serving seniors. I wear many hats, helping wherever needed, but my focuses are primarily human resources, payroll, billing and long-term care claims.
Over the years I have had the privilege of getting to meet and know so many clients and their families. What I love most about being part of Aging in Place Senior Care Services is the peace of mind I am able to bring to our clients and their families.
Steff DiMartine, Scheduling Specialist & Community Outreach
For over three years, I was my mother’s caregiver. It was the most challenging and beautiful experience of my life. I learned about medications, appointments, and routines—but I also learned about patience, advocacy, and unconditional love. Navigating the home care world was often overwhelming, and I quickly realized just how difficult it could be to find trustworthy, consistent, and compassionate care for someone you love.
After my mother passed, I wasn’t sure what direction life would take me. Then I met Kristin and Charlie. Their genuine passion for helping seniors stay safe, respected, and cared for, in their own homes, immediately resonated with me. Still, I was hesitant. Could I truly open my heart again in a professional setting? Could I carry my personal experience into a role where others counted on me, the way I once counted on caregivers?
The answer quickly became clear—yes.
Working with Aging in Place Senior Care Services has given me purpose. Every day is different, and every day brings a new opportunity to help someone, to ease a worry, or simply to be there when it matters most. I’m learning constantly—not just about care coordination, but about people; their stories, their needs, and their resilience.
Krystal Hardy-Knox
I was born in Glassboro, New Jersey, and raised in Chester, Pennsylvania, where I discovered my passion for helping others at a young age. Growing up around elderly neighbors, I
often helped with groceries or small tasks and later cared for my sick aunt and uncle. Their encouragement inspired me to pursue healthcare. After graduating from Chester High School, I attended Lincoln Tech and became a Certified Medical Assistant, gaining experience in Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Endocrinology, OB-GYN, and the State Corrections System. While I enjoyed the medical field, I found my true purpose in one-on-one senior care and joined Aging in Place (formerly Age Advantage) in 2018, where I continue to provide compassionate and personalized care.
Outside of work, I’m a wife and mother of two sons, Derek and Dennis. My interests in wellness and skincare led me to earn an Esthetician License from Dawn Career Institute and run a small skincare business that offered “Golden Girls Specials” for seniors. After COVID-19, I returned to home care full-time and continued advancing my education, earning a Billing and Coding Certification from Freedom Thinkers Academy in 2024. I’m now pursuing my Associate’s Degree in Human Services at Delaware Technical Community College. My goal is to continue growing as a compassionate healthcare professional who uplifts and supports others with dignity and care.
