“Whether you think you can or think you can’t – you are right.”   ~ Henry Ford

Aerial Yoga looks intimidating & complicated to most people. The most common reason that someone does not try this new style of yoga is that they think they cannot do it, or they are not ready for it just yet. They want to get stronger or more flexible first.

Take the time to dive in and you will find that VaihAyasa Aerial Yoga is one of the best ways to find a connection with your body, to build strength and flexibility, and to create space and movement in the body. Once students get started with VaihAyasa, they usually find that it is not so intimidating at all: in fact they tend to find it fun, relaxing, and oh so yummy!

Vaihayasa Aerial Yoga allows practitioners to sink into their practice more quickly, to deepen stretches, to find proper alignment naturally, and to reap the benefits of inversions without strain on the joints of the body. You will find that your mind clears, shifting to become open, aware, present.

You don’t have to be young or flexible to do Aerial Yoga. One of the things I love most about teaching VaihAyasa Aerial Yoga is the quick progress that can be seen in students alignment, strength, & flexibility. For instance, Reverse Namaste (or prayer hands behind your back), is a pose that no matter how many times I tried in my regular practice, I was not able to get fully into. The support of the fabric and the space created in my shoulders from my aerial practice helped me fully into this mudra (even without the fabric) within 5 times of practicing it.

Another reason I enjoy Aerial Yoga is that no matter what physical limitations a student may enter the room with (sciatica issues, shoulder strain, broken wrist), there are always adaptations that can be made to allow the student to create movement and space in the body. The ability to surrender into postures makes it the perfect way to create more flexibility naturally, and gives the practitioner a chance to feel support where the body needs it.

Why Should You Try VaihAyasa Aerial Yoga?

  • decompress the neck & spine
  • proper alignment naturally, gravity assisted
  • less pressure on hands, neck & shoulders
  • allows gravity to deepen stretches (relax into holdings)
  • enhance, deepen, & advance your floor practice
  • achieve more advanced postures while being supported
  • experience the benefits of inversions without risk of injury to neck or spine
  • gain a new perspective on the  body’s alignment & movement
  • move more fluidly
  • breath-based, allowing you to take advantage of the opening created
  • feel grounded as you fly
  • safety & fun

Are you asking yourself, what am I waiting for? Wherever your starting point, you will find yourself deepening into postures, while you create space and health in your body with Aerial Yoga. So, dive in and know that “You Can.”

“Yoga is about clearing away whatever is in us that prevents our living in the most full and whole way. With yoga, we become aware of how and where we are restricted — in body, mind, and heart — and how gradually to open and release these blockages.

As these blockages are cleared, our energy is freed. We start to feel more harmonious, more at one with ourselves. Our lives begin to flow — or we begin to flow more in our lives.” ~ Cybele Tomlinson

Publisher’s Note:

“When I first thought about taking Aerial Yoga I was assuming that it would be hard, and that there was no way that I could do any of it (I am over 60 yrs. old). I also assumed that I had to be really strong and limber. I was totally wrong: From the very beginning it was fun, enjoyable, & allowed me to go in to yoga poses that I never had been able to do in regular floor yoga. As the old saying goes. Try It, You’ll Like It. I promise.”~ PJ, Lewes, DE
