I remember when Michael’s mom called me. She was in full panic mode. Her outgoing, loving son was now stuck in a pattern of isolating himself in his room; smoking cannabis, and had little to no social activities. She told me she had tried a therapist, and even another coach, and nothing had made a difference in Michael’s life. She felt like she had hit a wall and was out of options.
Her friend told her about me and the coaching I did for her son, who was in a similar situation.
There is an epidemic spreading through our youth, and it started with COVID
The numbers are impossible to ignore. According to the CDC, 40% of all high school students report persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness, a figure that has jumped 10 points in a single decade. 1 in 5 high schoolers seriously considered suicide in 2023. Teens are now the loneliest people on the planet – a 2025 WHO report found that adolescents experience higher levels of loneliness than any other age group. This is not a phase. This is not growing pains. This is a generation shaped by a pandemic, raised on uncertainty, and quietly drowning – often right in front of us.
So what do you do when therapy hasn’t worked, and your child is still slipping away?
That’s exactly where Michael’s mom was when she called me
Here’s the difference. Therapy is designed to diagnose and treat. It looks backward – at what went wrong, at the wound, at the pattern. But a teenager who has lost their footing doesn’t just need to talk about it. They need to feel something shift and they need real tools that work with their real challenges.
That’s what I do
I work with young people on the inside story they are telling themselves – because that story is running everything. The isolation, the substances, the shutdown – those aren’t the problem. They are the symptoms of a kid who no longer knows who they are or where they fit. My job is to help them rebuild that from the ground up.
I don’t treat your child as if they’re broken. I work with them like they are capable – because they are. We build momentum through small, real wins. We rebuild confidence not by talking about confidence, but by creating experiences that generate it. And we do it in a language teenagers actually respond to, not a clinical framework designed for adults.
Michael came out of his room. Not overnight – but he came out. He started reconnecting. His mom didn’t get her old Michael back. She got a stronger one.
If you are a parent reading this and something in my words felt personal – it probably was. You are not imagining it, and you are not out of options.
Michael’s mom didn’t just get her son back. She got her footing back as a parent. That’s what’s possible when the right support shows up at the right time.

Testimonials
“My son hadn’t left his room in months. I didn’t recognize him anymore. After working with Joe, he started talking to us again, reconnected with his friends, and laughed at dinner for the first time in over a year.” ~ Sarah M., Pa, parent of a 19-year-old
“We had tried two therapists and another coach. Nothing moved the needle. I almost didn’t call Joe because I was so afraid of being disappointed again. Within weeks, I could see my daughter coming back to herself. I just wish I had found him sooner.” ~ Jennifer R., NJ, parent of a 15-year-old
