Author’s Book Sales Benefit Animals
By Margaret (Marge) Piscitelli
Marge’s God-given talents and a healthy dose of curiosity have provided her with the opportunity to learn, and experience a variety of professions.
At age fourteen she “discovered” the drums, and for the next 50 years, performed with local bands at various venues and events. Professionally, her career has been diverse and included: Ownership of an art gallery and frame shop, display advertising at The News Journal, teaching, coaching, shooting professional photographs and videos, mural and acrylic painting, and working as the activities director for a senior center. She volunteered for four years, at the Delaware Division of the Visually Impaired Resource Center, but Marge’s one true passion still remains a love for animals, especially those who are injured or in need of rescuing.
The inspiration for her books began over 40 years ago when she observed a blue jay, digging up the peanuts in her backyard that a squirrel had carefully buried. He stuffed them all in his beak and flew away. That image stuck with her for decades, and eventually, Marge created a story based on Queenie the squirrel and Buster the blue jay. Forty years later she published it on Amazon in 2022. During 2023, she wrote two more books, about the same characters – now giving her readers a trilogy of stories to enjoy. Marge describes writing, as meditative, as her imagination becomes immersed in creating storylines and breathing life into her book’s heroes, who seem more like family than characters.
The motivation behind writing and publishing her stories is not for Marge’s personal financial gain, but rather, to raise funds for animal organizations. Book sale proceeds are being donated to, Voices for the Voiceless of Delaware, a wildlife rescue and rehab organization. The daily management is overseen by Vicki Bowman and Toni Odo. These women, unselfishly volunteer their time and strive to rescue, rehab and improve the lives of countless wildlife. They are also assisted by a dedicated staff of volunteers. The donations are always made in honor of Marge’s beautiful rescue dog Buddy, who passed, on August 6, 2020.
Marge is available to give talks on the writing process and has presented her books to local schools. Her hope is to inspire students to become successful writers. Contact her at [email protected] or check out her books at marge on amazon
