Congratulations Ms. U.S.
The grandeur of Long Beach, California witnessed an extraordinary celebration of grace, beauty, and talent as Janice Viamontie was crowned the prestigious title of Ms. U.S. 2024. The Ms. U.S. pageant is the sister pageant associated with Woman of Achievement pageant system. These spectacular events held the on-stage finals on January 28, 2024, on the historic Queen Mary Ship and marked a journey filled with poise, dedication, and empowerment. Janice competed in five phases of the Ms. U.S. Pageant, including; platform onstage question (where she was able to highlight her platform of spreading mental health care during postpartum), personal interview, swim wear, and evening gown presentation.
However, amidst stiff competition and this being her first time ever competing in a pageant, Ms. Viamontie stood out with her remarkable presence, eloquence, and charisma; captivating both the judges and the audience alike. Her unwavering commitment to her platform and her ability to inspire others set her apart as a beacon of hope and empowerment for women nationwide. Throughout the competition, Janice exhibited not only beauty but also intelligence, grace, and a profound dedication to her chosen cause. Her victory serves as a testament to her relentless pursuit of excellence and her unwavering determination to make a positive impact on society.
Janice is a mental health professional, she owns Viamontie Counseling & Consulting Services, LLC, which provides therapeutic services and workshops. She prides herself on offering education to those who look to minimize stereotypes associated with seeking therapy, especially in the black and brown community. As an immigrant from Jamaica, she is aware of the stigma that relates to seeking counseling. However, she wants to stress the importance of treating our mind and heart the same as we would treat a physical injury.
As a licensed clinical social worker and mother of two, Janice recognizes the need to pay special attention to mothers during postpartum. She insure they are able to withstand the pressures of motherhood. Psychosocial factors also play a major part in the cause of mood disturbances. Women must adjust to the changes in their bodies, relationships, and their perceived new responsibilities based on society’s standards. Normalizing a mother’s experiences can allow her the opportunity to say “I am not ok” out loud, so we can find access to the mental health care she truly may need.
In her reign as Ms. U.S. 2024, Janice Viamontie pledged to continue using her platform to normalize the use of mental health care during postpartum and to inspire women of all backgrounds to embrace their unique strengths and pursue their dreams relentlessly. She has increased her volunteering in areas of service to women. She has increased her knowledge in postpartum mental health care, so she is able to expand her therapeutic knowledge and provide expert service to her clients. She has appeared on panels and other speaking engagements where she has spread the word about; self-care, asking for help and self-preservation.
Join us in congratulating Janice Viamontie on her well-deserved victory and wishing her success as she continues this remarkable journey as the ambassador of empowerment, beauty, and grace. She plans to return to California in November of 2024, to crown the next Ms. U.S. queen for the 2025 year and take her final walk on stage. She will continue to use her title to make a difference.
