Pathways to Success Holds 5th Annual Pay It Forward Celebration
Comments from attendees included “It was wonderful hearing directly from the Pathways to Success students,” to “What a wonderful evening it was – to learn more about Pathways to Success and celebrating their success!” The Pay It Forward event was recently held at The Clubhouse at Baywood in Millsboro. Students and community supporters were honored.
The student honorees also expressed themselves:
“Not only did Pathways provide a safe, secure and family oriented environment, but they also provided life-changing opportunities as well.”
“I know I would not have graduated high school if it weren’t for Pathways.”
“I’m so happy I joined Pathways my junior year because I don’t know if I would have been able to change my attitude and how I handle situations on my own.”
“I would like to thank the role models at Pathways for giving me this honor, as well as other opportunities that would not have been possible for me to achieve without the amazing people in the program.”
“I owe so much to my parents for all they have done for me and the Pathways program that has helped me in so many ways.”
Fay Blake, Founder and Executive Director, said: “It is always rewarding to see the success of our students at events like Pay It Forward. Equally gratifying is that we consistently reach a 98% graduation rate, with 96% of the students going on to college or getting certified in a trade, entering the military or finding full-time jobs.”
The Pathways to Success program is offered at Cape Henlopen High School, Milford High School, Seaford High School, Polytech High School, Sussex Technical High School, and, new this year, at Appoquinimink High School.
Pathways Coordinators are in each of the schools when students need extra support and guidance. The organization serves those that are underserved and under-resourced. The C.A.R.E. (Consistent, Authentic, Respectful, Empowerment) model has proven to be so effective. The students know that they have an advocate in Pathways to Success and no matter what, there are those that care 24/7, 365 days a year.
Special thanks go to the supporters and the sponsors of this Pay It Forward event who helped make it the success that it was!
