How To Lose Fat
By Dr. Gary Wingate & Dr. Paul Kim
It seems as though, many of us fight the battle of weight gain and fat bulges. Despite a person’s best efforts to maintain a healthy diet and exercise, sometimes additional help is required. There are many ways to reduce fat permanently, both by surgical and non-surgical methods.
LipoDissolve:
Dr. Kim removes fat permanently by injecting fat destroying compounds under the skin with very tiny needles. No down time is required. There is very little pain because the needles are extremely small. It takes about 4-6 weeks to see the results, as the fat cells slowly “swell up, burst and die” in a process called lipolysis. After this process of lipolysis, the body’s immune system slowly removes the fat from the body permanently. This process of injection followed by fat cell destruction can be repeated for a series of treatments in order to achieve a desirable result. It can be performed on many parts of the body including the chin/neck area, arms, stomach, hips. It can be used to help get rid of back fat, bra fat, muffin tops, axillary fold, etc. The big advantage of this procedure is that there is virtually no down time. There may be some mild swelling and bruising immediately following injection, but you otherwise may resume normal activities immediately the same day as the injection.
Heating and cooling fat cells:
Research has demonstrated that fat cells are very sensitive to extreme temperature changes. There are machines that will heat up or cool down fat under the skin which will allow the fat cells to die slowly. Each treatment takes 6-8 weeks to see modest results. This treatment can cause temporary discomfort during the procedure and become costly over time, as it requires a series of multiple treatments.
Laser liposuction:
Laser probes are inserted into the treatment area through small incisions in the skin. This procedure is done under local anesthesia, meaning that you are awake, but the treatment area is treated with numbing medication. The fat cells are then “blasted” by laser beams and then gently removed by liposuction. These lasers also have the capability to tighten skin. They are often used in conjunction with other minimally invasive procedures in order to give optimal results. Body areas that can be treated with this modality include the neck, arms, stomach, thighs, and back. There is more down time with this type of procedure, however, dramatic changes can be achieved after a single treatment.
Regular liposuction:
This is usually done under general anesthesia, because of large volume of adipose tissue to be removed. This procedure has been performed for over 30 years and is proven to be a reliable and consistent method to remove excess fat from the body.
