The Court Appointed Special Advocate Program (CASA) of the Family Court is expanding its efforts to represent the interests of abused and neglected children in court.
The program is seeking qualified adults to serve as CASA volunteers.

CASA volunteers are trained members of the community who are appointed by Family Court Judges to speak up for the best interests of abused and neglected children in Court proceedings. As an official of the Court, the CASA volunteer conducts an independent investigation into the child’s life and provides information and recommendations to the judge in the case. CASA volunteers work with attorneys, social workers, and family members to attain the goal of a safe and permanent home for each child.

CASA volunteers have varied professional, educational, and ethnic backgrounds. They are selected on the basis of their objectivity, competence and commitment. Each volunteer accepted into the program must complete five days of initial training. Casework supervision is provided by full time Program Coordinators from the Family Court staff. Program attorneys provide legal advice and represent the CASA in court proceedings.

In the last year, CASA volunteers served over 600 children in Delaware. Yet, many of Delaware’s abused and neglected children still have no independent voice in court.

The problems of child abuse and neglect belong to all of us.
Be part of the solution. Be a CASA volunteer.

For information, call the CASA office in
Family Court at 302-255-0461.

Call 302-672-1037 in Kent County
The backdrop of the garden center was like stepping in to Spring with all the beautiful garden ornaments, plants and fountains. Our profile participants come from Western Delaware County PA, New Castle County, Kent County and Sussex County, DE.
Hair and makeup were provided by J. Photography work was provided by Roy McDowell of Royal Photography (royalphotogde@aol.com), 3646 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810 (Phone 302-478-1809).
Brian Frederick grew up with the stories of how his Grandpa Joe started the family business in 1947, working out of a second-hand plumbing truck. Today, Brian and his brother Robbie lead Joseph Frederick & Sons, now Delaware’s premiere plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling company. “Our grandfather started this business with one truck, willingness to work, and a sense of integrity,” he said. “Robbie and I work hard to maintain those values and to provide the same level of service our family has provided since 1947.” At age 15, Brian started working at Joseph Frederick & Sons while majoring in sheet metal fabrication trade at Delcastle High School. He went to Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri, and returned to Delaware to join the family business full time in 1979. By 1998, Brian and Robbie were ready to take over Joseph Frederick & Sons, and Robbie became the company’s president. Brian took over as president in 2003. Now, Brian’s daughter Alexis Frederick has joined the company, too, making Joseph Frederick & Sons one of America’s rare fourth-generation family businesses.
