Dress for Your Shape!
By Kay Snelling ~ Owner, Gecko Fashions
Fashion is what you buy; style is how you wear it.
Your style encompasses several elements: wearing your best colors, accessorizing, and dressing for your shape! Nobody has the perfect shape – they have just learned their body type and how to give off that illusion. There are three body “shapes”:
1. Short legs with a long torso – This body type can be identified by your waist being lower than your bent elbow. Your style aim is to create the illusion of longer legs and a shorter torso. To create this look, wear accessories that draw the eye upward to your shoulders and face. Wider belts, longer pant hems, medium heels and straight skirts will continue the illusion.
2. Long legs with a short torso – Your waist will be higher when your elbow is bent. Your style goal is to create a visual balance of a longer torso and shorter legs. You can do this by wearing patterns that draw the eye down. Your skirts and pants should be a lighter color than
your tops.
3. Balanced body – With the balanced body, your waist is at your bent elbow. Your style aim is to create a longer torso. You can do this by wearing accessories that draw the eye upward, with patterned tops and flared pants.
Only 2% of the population is perfect. If you are in that percentile, good for you! If not, be the best version of you!
