Wedding Dress Shopping 101

As the autumn air drifts in,
there are a few things to think about
when you go out on your all-important search.
Always remember that your gown is an expression of who you are. You will be the one wearing it and ultimately the decision is yours to make. It is important to be yourself on your wedding day. You don’t want to look back and say, “Who was that girl?” Keep these tips in mind to make your experience pleasant and memorable in the best way possible!
Always make an appointment
- Not all bridal salons require appointments, but call and make one anyway. You can get a real sense of the store based on your first conversation with them. Also, if you schedule an appointment you are guaranteed at least an hour of undivided attention.
- No matter what, knowing your body shape (Women’s Journal May/June) is the first step toward finding the perfect gown. You may want to lose some weight but your body frame won’t change all that much!! Love yourself!
Weekdays are better than weekends
- Plan in advance and take a day off to go bridal shopping. Then grab some lunch and make a memorable day for yourself. You will be happy that you did. Stores are not as crowded during the week.
Things add up
- Hidden costs add up and can change your bottom line. Your veil and/or headpiece and alterations are extra. Factor that in when thinking about how much you are comfortable spending.
- Bringing a large entourage with you to your appointment is a big no-no. Bring one or two close friends or family members that can give you thoughtful advice during your search. A large group can take over the appointment and the bride gets lost in the shuffle.

Testimonial:
“I want to thank you for everything Anastasia’s Bridal did for my wedding day. I absolutely dreaded going to bridal shops, but once I walked into yours, I just knew I would find my wedding dress there! I loved that my time there was all about me and I wasn’t being pushed out the door because there was another client behind me. Everyone there made me feel so comfortable and made the experience pleasant and fun; as it should be when you’re trying on wedding dresses. The selection of dresses that you carry are so beautiful that at first I didn’t think I would be able to choose. However, once I put the perfect one on, it was all over and I had found my dress! Not only did you carry beautiful wedding gowns but you also carried beautiful bridesmaid’s dresses. I was able to get my dress, my bridesmaid’s dresses, and even my mom was able to get her dress from the same place! Everything from service, selection, to attention to detail was first class! Since my wedding, I have had several friends/family members get engaged and my #1 recommendation is Anastasia’s Bridal! Thanks so much! P.S- It’s been almost a year since I have gotten married and I still have people tell me how beautiful my wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses were!” ~ Stephanie Bleacher-Miller
