When families begin the process of searching
for the right high school,
they might not realize they are taking the first steps
in the college application process as well.
By selecting a high school that emphasizes strong study skills, leadership roles, and the importance of challenging oneself intellectually and spiritually, parents prepare their student for both the independence and rigorous course load of higher education. They also gain the satisfaction in knowing that their child is fully equipped with the tools necessary to make the most of his or her college experience. Saint Mark’s not only offers diverse and engaging courses―helping students achieve high performance in demanding classes at the collegiate level as well as on standardized tests―but also encourages all students to make college or university the goal upon graduation.
With the assistance of two fulltime college placement counselors,
more than 97 percent of Saint Mark’s graduates
continue with higher education…
with many awarded scholarships and grants to the school of their choice. The process of selecting a college is a highly personal one, and in addition to encouraging students t
o work together with Saint Mark’s staff, the College Placement Resource Center is well stocked with a diverse selection of college catalogs, videos, applications, reference books and college selection software. Juniors and seniors also have many opportunities to meet with representatives from more than 130 colleges and universities who regularly visit Saint Mark’s throughout the school year. Counselors are available to meet with students and their parents during the summer months for those who wish to get a head start on the college selection process.
Last year, members of the class of 2010
were offered scholarships and grants
totaling more than $6.7 million.
More than one third of the class attended the University of Delaware, many of them in the Honors Program while numerous graduates were accepted in honors programs at other schools, including: Pennsylvania State University; University of Maryland, College Park; University of Pittsburgh; and Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Students from the Class of 2011 are continuing this tradition of excellence with not only a high admissions rate to the University of the Delaware, but also acceptances to the United States Naval Academy, Cornell University, College of William and Mary, University of Virginia, University of Notre Dame, and Johns Hopkins University.

What Our Parents Say
“The strong academic program and involvement in athletics taught my sons to be disciplined students. Their transition from high school to college was smooth because of their Saint Mark’s education.” ~ M. Driscoll
“My three children graduated from Saint Mark’s. Not only did they receive an excellent education, but they were involved in sports programs with wonderful coaches as well as members of student council and other clubs. Their all-around experience at Saint Mark’s prepared them to be successful not only in college but the world beyond. I was pleased with their growth as young people committed to the school’s values of humility, integrity, and excellence.” ~ J. Justison
