La Casa Pasta is back! Better than ever!

La Casa loungeIn 1978 when Giuseppe Martuscelli, along with his wife Anna, opened La Casa Pasta restaurant on rt. 896 in Glasgow, he set upon realizing his life’s dream of bringing fresh, hand-made authentic Italian fare to his patrons in a welcoming family environment. Through the years, Giuseppe realized his dream more and more every day, and his reputation and restaurant grew hand in hand. In 1982 he purchased the shopping center where his restaurant stood, and gradually incorporated the liquor store, beauty salon and Dunkin’ Donuts spaces into La Casa Pasta’s floor plan. Other restaurants and business ventures came and went, but La Casa Pasta was the constant; always there, open and welcoming, always the gathering place for family both near and far.

la_casa_pasta_fireOn May 7th of this year, that all changed. An electrical fire above the kitchen ceiling ignited the roof’s structural trusses and quickly spread. Although the responding firefighters did a tremendous job isolating the fire and preventing the entire structure from burning to the ground, the damage was done. No part of the restaurant was untouched by the smoke and water, and in the aftermath the options for the future were clear; leave the building as-is, abandon the business and sell the shopping center, refurbish the kitchen and reopen as quickly as possible, or take the time and painstaking effort to rebuild brick by brick and reopen at some uncertain point in the future. The latter option was chosen and by the time this publication goes to print, La Casa Pasta will be open for business once again.

la_casa_pasta_Anna roomDuring the rebuilding process, much thought and effort was put into priming La Casa Pasta for another 30+ years of servicing the community by hosting family gatherings, weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, baptisms or lunch and dinner any day of the week. All of the old world charm is still here, alongside many new twists and some reintroductions. Our long-dormant wood fired brick oven has been reincorporated into the useable space of the restaurant and our famous brick oven pizzas, as crispy and unique as those we serve at The Chesapeake Inn, are back to knock your socks off. On our dessert menu you will see our Paciugo gelato, made fresh daily at our store in the Christiana Mall (located next to Target). Our gelato may be enjoyed by itself, accompanying one of our delectable homemade desserts, or in an exciting new way like an affogato, where we drown 3 scoops of the gelato of your choice in freshly brewed espresso.

La Casa Anna roomFor your convenience, we have also added a rustic market that will feature the same authentic pastas and sauces that have allowed La Casa Pasta to thrive for more than three decades. We won’t tell if you don’t, so feel free to take them home and pass them off as your own: eggplant parmigiana that is ready to pop in the oven; our delicately simmered and carefully jarred house-made sauce to add to your lasagna recipe; our hand-made pasta ready to be tossed with your nonna’s sauce; Italian meats and cheeses that make the perfect antipasti, the list goes on and on, and we invite you to stroll through the market to see for yourself all of its unique offerings.

Whether for lunch, dinner, a family gathering or corporate event, or selecting the finest ingredients from our market to dazzle your dinner guests, we think you’ll agree that La Casa Pasta is not just back, but better than ever. Just as authentic, homemade Italian cuisine has been our tradition for over 30 years, Mangia bene e sorridere sempre, Giuseppe’s motto which translates to “eat well and smile often” is still our modus operandi, and we invite you to come see why. Cut this coupon out and present it at each of our fine locations to receive a 10% discount on your next visit with us. The tradition of La Casa Pasta continues on, and we look forward to having you remain part of it.
