Hypnosis: Changing Your Life One Thought At A Time!

When I moved out of my parent’s home in 1980, I not only moved my belongings, I also took emotional clutter, what some may call negative self-talk. I brought along beliefs about myself, the world, and what I could or could not expect from life. Much, if not almost all, of this emotional clutter was below my conscious awareness. Whether I was aware of it or not, I was still impacted by it. One’s level of awareness doesn’t minimize the effects emotional clutter has; what it can do is make
you feel helpless or hopeless.
If you read my previous article about hoarding you know it is a symptom of emotional clutter. Food/eating issues, smoking, habits such as nail biting and procrastination, and fears (phobias) are just some of the ways people distract themselves from feeling “bad,” which for Paula were “fear, frustration, guilt, loneliness, (and) anger”. Here’s what Paula has to say:
“The process (of hypnotherapy) made me reflect on all of the suppressed, hidden, visible, tucked away, and overwhelming tons of feelings and memories that I have been stock-piling, safe-guarding, protecting….yes…hoarding in my life. Fear, frustration, guilt, loneliness, anger, stress….all splattered across my life in the form of work, projects, obligations, and other professional and personal distractions. Hypnotherapy has helped me take one “room” at a time, decide to keep or toss, and discover a sense of clarity that I have not experienced for as long as I can remember. It is an enlightening journey that continues to give me insight and reflection every day.” ~ Paula J., New Castle, DE
What emotional clutter do you have? If you’re not sure, look at your life: Do you smoke? Do you over eat; feel out of control about food? Do you feel anxious, worried or stressed? Perhaps you feel irritable or angry. Are you less confident than you’d like to be? If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions than there’s something in the way of your feeling better….emotional clutter!
My clutter showed up in my weight. This is a picture of me 8 years ago on the day I completed my training as a certified consulting hypnotist. I am now 4-5 clothing sizes smaller, maintaining my weight release along the way, something that never happened before in my life! Through hypnosis, I gained understanding and clarity about my feelings and how I used eating as a distracter to not feel “bad.” In turn, I changed my relationship with food and now use my emotions as a guide instead of burying them.
Make your New Years resolution to clear your emotional clutter. You’ll be glad you did! Here are just some of the reasons why people use hypnosis:
• Stop smoking
• Lose weight
• Conquer excessive fears, including driving & public speaking
• Reduce stress
• Become free of addictions, including drugs, gambling, & alcohol
• Manage anger, sadness, grief, and other emotions
• Eliminate habits such as procrastination, nail biting, hair pulling, etc.
• Overcome eating disorders or issues
• Improve academic performance
• Manage pain
• Boost self-confidence
• Boost creativity & memory
• Improve relationships & intimacy
