Fall… The Season For Many Reasons!

Fall is my favorite time of the year to be a Hair Colorist. I believe that hair color should follow the seasons. In Fall, colors warm up, get richer and get filled back-in with tones that the summer sun has taken. Though not everyone should have red hair, even blondes should put warmth and dimension back into their hair. Honey and buttery tones can freshen up a bleached out blonde. Glazes and glossing with gold will put shine back into summer hair. For the brunettes, now is the time to try auburn hilites or chestnut lolites, or even reds and oranges. Be careful to not put too much of these strong tones in your hair, instead use them as accent pieces, colors that make your hair more interesting and more beautiful. And always, make sure to keep your hair in the best condition you can, because nothing is more beautiful than shiny, healthy hair.
Fall is also the time of the year to focus on your skin. Now that you have spent the summer in the sun, you probably notice sun spots and damage on your face and decolette’. Skin exfoliation, photo rejuvenation, or a laser treatment can help reduce and eliminate these spots, leaving a more even and youthful appearance to your skin. Laser hair removal, which I can tell you personally has been a huge success for me, can make your next summer effortless. Imagine no shaving of your legs, underarms and bikini; you can just get up and go to the beach.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and each one of us has been affected in one way or another by breast cancer. When I talk to my clients or friends about their upcoming battle with breast cancer, one of their major concerns is how they will deal with losing their hair. Our hair is so important to our identity and how we feel about ourselves. Without it, we feel naked, exposed and vulnerable. This is not how we should feel when battling for our lives. As a Stylist, I can help guide my clients to go to proper places to find wigs and head coverings so they will feel more
comfortable during their chemotherapy treatments. Our real job begins when their hair starts to grow in and they want to look stylish with their short hair and not like someone growing their hair back-in after surviving cancer. Many times, the hair grows in a different color or texture and they have no idea what to do with it. I feel extremely grateful and privileged to assist my clients during this time in their lives when they are so courageous. It really gives my career a sense of purpose.
So let’s embrace the crisp air this fall season with a new attitude and a warmer, radiant look.
