Are You Running On Empty?

Stress is the 21st century epidemic and is responsible for 90% of preventable diseases. Information overload, inactivity, and emotional turmoil are stressors. Exercise programs are put on hold until the New Year. This fall, decide to stay on course with work, life balance and your personal health. Remember, your health is a treasure beyond measure!
We asked a professional fitness and wellness duo for some tips on health-enhancing strategies. Debi Dunn, an integrative health consultant, and Danielle Diehl, a fitness expert, state that many of their students take better care of their cars and houses than their own bodies. The keys are to keep your body running smoothly, feed it the right fuel, lubricate the joints and look under the hood once and awhile!
These tips will help you keep your batteries charged:
1. Self-Evaluate – Surround yourself with people or activities that positively inspire you to meet your goals.
2. Energize and Exercise – Blend stress-reducing energy exercises such as qigong, t’ai chi, and yoga with weight training and cardio activities.
3. Eat, Drink and Be Careful - Reduce mindless eating, pay attention to proper nutrition, and hydrate. Eat to live, don’t live to eat!
4. Prioritize and Plan - Make a daily appointment to move your body and follow a food plan.
5. Relax and Reflect - Practice mindfulness. Meditation is the doorway to greater knowing and stress relief.
Balance holiday preparations with exercise, proper nutrition, mindfulness, and gratitude. Don’t let anything take the air out of your tires. Make it a Dunn Diehl!
