Stop! Don’t Touch that Button

Modern science and technology have made great strides in our time. One of these great strides was the Internet. The Internet has made it possible for us to find almost anything we need without ever leaving the comfort of our homes or offices. We can buy clothing, jewelry, computers, food, and furniture at prices that are many times too good to be true. While this process works for many things, like everything else, it has its limitations. One example of this is Business Furniture.
First of all, you’re buying a product from a picture. Years of experience in the Furniture Industry has taught me that you can make an inferior item look like it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread if you have the right photographer and equipment. There has never been a picture taken of a Fabric Color or Wood Finish that adequately represents actual product so you cannot depend on what appears on your computer screen. Additionally, the technology used in computer screens does not allow this, as different screens have different color variations.
Secondly, you’re never quite sure about where these companies are located. This not only affects the cost of freight, but whether the item will have to ship Common Carrier or not. Depending on the company you’re working with, the freight is not always included and it is not clearly explained in the advertisement.
Thirdly, advertisers rarely define what is delivered Knock-Down (KD) and ready for assembly or Completely Assembled. This can hurt you in one of two ways: If you’re expecting a large item to ship KD and it delivers completely assembled, you may not be able to get it into your home or office. Additionally, larger items will ship Common Carrier or (Tractor Trailer). Not only will you have to deal with a really big truck in your driveway, but the driver can only move the product to the end of the truck as his company insurance won’t cover him on the ground. This means you need to have someone on the ground to catch it. In either case, you will need to provide the labor to get it inside, unpacked, set in place, and remove the trash.
If your product ships in a flat box, and you expected it to ship assembled, you’re now dealing with assembly and parts issues. If parts are damaged or missing, you need wait for them from the factory.
Finally, if there is Concealed Damage or damage to the product that was not obvious from the condition of the carton, you will have to file a claim with the freight company. This scenario brings with it far more aggravation than most people are willing to deal with.
All of this could be avoided by using a Local Dealer that includes delivery and installation in their prices. Additionally, you can see the real finishes, sit in the actual chairs, and experience the quality of the furniture you want to purchase.
