CASA Volunteer is a Court Appointed Special Advocate, who is appointed by a judge to serve as the ongoing link, the “advocate”, for an abused or neglected child during their time within the Family Court dependency system. Judges appoint CASA to speak for the safety, best interest, and well-being of children. You not only help change the course of a life for generations, but also create a safer, friendlier, and healthier community now and for years to come.

Independent studies show that once a CASA volunteer has been assigned, 95 percent of children do not languish in long-term foster care and 90 percent of children do not return to the Children Protective Service system. They are also more likely to receive needed services, such as therapy, health care and education.

The Role of a CASA Volunteer
Any adult who is willing to stand up for an abused and neglected child can take the initial steps in becoming a CASA volunteer. After you successfully complete an application process which includes a criminal and child abuse background clearance check, you will receive initial training. This specialized training will enhance your skills and knowledge plus qualify
you to be sworn in and court appointed by a judge.
