Letting Go Of Lost Love
By Joe White, President and Founder of Get Life Coaching
It seems the hardest part of love is letting go. Letting go when you give your heart to another person only to have it rejected. Letting go of being betrayed. Letting go of a relationship that is only an empty “ship” that no longer “relates.” Letting go of regret when you walked away when you should have stayed. To love, you must let go. To live, you must let go. Being a pack rat of shattered memories and hurt stagnates you from receiving the very thing you desire – love. The simplicity of this knowledge is overshadowed by the complexity of its action. You can never hold on to anything new until you let go of what is currently in your hand. It’s time to open your hand and let go. We will start with the 4 Keys Of Letting Go Of Lost Love.
1. Reclaim Your Power
Reread the following statement until you understand it, “It doesn’t matter what they did to me… I am still enough.” We cannot be the victims of our own lives. There is a sublime comfort in knowing that we can just blame someone else and exonerate ourselves from taking action. When we do so, we lose our power. No one can take away your power. You can give it away or abandon it, but no one can take away what is innately in you. Take full responsibility for what you feel, think, and do.
2. Accept Unanswered Questions
Why did this happen? How come he no longer loves me? What would cause them to cheat? Answers to these questions may never be answered. Waiting or demanding answers to these questions before you move forward will cripple you. Sometimes we never learn the answers to what we seek but it doesn’t mean that we cannot move forward. Getting the answers and moving forward are not connected unless you make it so. Separate the two and move forward.
3. Give It a Meaning That Serves You
Nothing in life has any meaning other than the meaning you give it. We must find meaning that serves us. We cannot hold onto new meaning when we are grasping the past. Let it go now. Everything is here to serve you if you allow it to.
4. Recognize Your Worth
We can only love someone else to the level that we love ourselves. How will anyone recognize your worth unless you do first? Each of us has the ability to love and be loved. Give what you seek, first to yourself and then to others. Love from your heart and abundance.
Letting go is a choice that you can make right now. Change happens in the moment we choose it to happen. It can be scary, you may feel you deserve to hold on to the resentment, but the truth is you are more so be more and love. Love not because you need to but because that is what you do…love. Let go and love.
Until next time, I wish you love and passion.
