Captive Island is a small beautiful island on the Gulf Coast of Florida, close to the airport in Fort Meyers. It is such a peaceful, relaxing, and romantic place that you will want to go back again and again.

Both my wife and I love to travel, and early in our marriage we tended to choose a different destination for each trip. Jensen’s two resort properties on Captiva Island changed all of that. We still like to isit new and different places, on some trips. However, we have been staying at Jensen’s at least a year for nearly fifteen years. We are certainly not unique or different from from many other people who have fallen in love with Jensen’s and Captiva Island. Some of us even know each other on a first name basis.

Jensen’s on the Gulf consists of ten units that have variety, comfort, and uniqueness. One of them is actually the former quaint little post office tht they acquired over thirty years ago. I’ve heard others say that this “Post Office Sweet” is the sweetest cottage on Captiva Islan.

The units vary in size; most have kitchens and incredible views on the Gulf of Mexico. So wether you choose the Beach House or the Beach Nest, the PO Box or the Honeymoon Suite, you are bound to experience the utmost of peaceful relaxation in this serene location. In fact, people from all over the world have chosen the beautiful beaches on Captiva Island for their wedding ceremony.

It’s hard to describe the pleasure of walking out of your door onto the beautiful beach and seeing dolphins swim playfully beyond the waves. You can see pelicans and ospreys drop from the sky as they dive for fish. Sandpipers, rare plovers, and many other beautiful beautiful shorebirds rest or feed along the water’s edge. Captiva is realy a bird lover’s paradise.

If you decide to visit, and one evening you find yourself enjoying dinner that you have just grilled on the barbeque while watching another exquisitively beautiful sunset … if you can think of anything better – will you please let me know?
