The summer temps are cooling down as fall heats up in Wilmington. In the midst of the many arts and culture seasons opening in the fall, Wilmington Renaissance Corporation (WRC) and its partners, The Grand Opera House and Delaware Historical Society (DHS), will once again present the Downtown Fall Fest on Saturday, Nov. 7.

The free, family-friendly event will be held on Market Street in downtown Wilmington from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming families to downtown Wilmington again this year for a day full of activities, fall fun and exciting entertainment,” said Carrie Gray, WRC paintmanaging director. “We recognize that the cost of raising a family can be daunting and so we have once again made the Downtown Fall Fest a free event. The adults and children will be able to enjoy the festivities at no cost.”

The fall celebration will include elements like hayrides on Market Street, moon bounces, sports activities, hay bale mazes, arts and crafts, live musical entertainment, artist vendors, face painting and much more.
The Grand Opera House will present mini-shows on their stage that will captivate audiences for 15-minute slots which will give attendees a chance to visit the elaborate theater.

“The Grand is happy to be part of the Downtown Fall Fest once again this year and we are excited to share the magic of the stage with the families who come downtown for the event,” Stephen Bailey, The Grand beeexecutive director, said. “We hope the parents and children will enjoy The Grand experience and visit us for other family-friendly shows throughout the year.”

In addition to the shows at The Grand and the many activities lining Market Street, DHS will feature outdoor fun that complements the exhibit on display inside their Delaware History Museum. The exhibit is Whales, Weirs and Waterfowl.

march“We will be utilizing the maritime theme of our exhibit and will feature old and new boats on Market Street, interactive kids’ games, live music and more,” Joan Hoge, DHS executive director said. “Our activities and exhibit will marry the historical with the contemporary and give children a taste of both.”
