Throughout my years of planning travel, I realized that a large number of my clients are single women. All travelers want to be safe, but women specifically have made demands on the hotel industry to create more female friendly features and/or amenities that would help female guests feel more secure during their stay.

Fortunately, there are now some hotel chains that have begun to create women only floors so that the foot traffic on that
floor is more female than male.

Other hotels that do not have female-only floors have a staff that is committed to taking care of your personal comfort and safety concerns. For example, once you check in, the front desk will call to make sure that you’re in your room safely. As a general rule they will not give out your room number to anyone who may ask. There are extra cameras on each floor with time and date stamped video.

In the last 3 years, more hotels have upgraded to vanity styled bathrooms with spa like amenities. Hotels now provide a room service spa menu that includes in-room massages
and facials.

Please note, if you plan to be late, contact the hotel to ensure they will hold your room. Always lock your door when inside your room. Even if you are just running in to get your bag or touch up your make up. If the door to your room is ajar when you arrive, do not enter the room but report it to the hotel staff. When returning from a late dinner ask the front desk for an escort to your room. Once in your room, call the front desk to thank them for the escort, signaling that you’re in your room safely.
