In 1984, Susan Ellman and Ellen Davis created the floral fruit bouquet as an exciting way to send fresh fruit. The sisters-in-law started Incredibly Edible Delites, a company that changed the original concept of a fruit basket turning fresh fruit into real-looking “flower” bouquets. Using strawberries, pineapples, melons and grapes, the company creates more than three dozen different designs.

Davis and Ellman franchised the concept in 1993 blossoming into more than thirty franchise locations in fifteen different states.

Davis and Ellman’s concept has inspired many others to attempt to replicate their idea opening similar stores with similar names. To help clarify the brand started in 1984, you will now see the FruitFlowersTM brand instead of Incredibly Edible Delites. FruitFlowers™ is still the same company with the same lovable folks delivering handmade creations to valued customers.

In 1998, Pam Moyer, Susan Talluto and Lorie Marrella brought FruitFlowers™ to Delaware opening in Wilmington. In January 2008, the trio purchased the Chester County Pennsylvania franchise located in West Chester. “After nine successful years in Delaware, we decided we needed to challenge ourselves and expand”, says Marrella. “Our commitment to be the best remains the same today as it was ten years ago”, adds Talluto.

sweet_temptations_cherry_fruit_webFruitFlowers™ is a creative gift for family get-togethers, to say “Get Well Soon”, “Happy Birthday”, or “Congratulations”, as well as to celebrate a retirement, the birth of a baby or to express sympathy. These events are part of people’s every day lives. Why not acknowledge these events by sending the berry, berry best!

In addition to those typical events, FruitFlowers™ is looking forward to celebrating National Administrative Assistants Week, April 20-24, National Nurses Week, May 6-12, and Mother’s Day, May 10th. You could go with the standard bouquet of flowers, but is that really displaying how incredible you think they are? What would tell them how unique you think they are is a bouquet of fruit flowers. They are full of color and beauty, they smell exquisitely sweet, and taste juicy and delicious. Lucky recipients go crazy for them.

Moyer, Talluto and Marrella believe in staying connected to the community by donating gift certificates and baskets to numerous local charity events and fundraising auctions throughout the year. FruitFlowers™ of Delaware will be participating in an Alzheimer’s fundraiser at Brantwyn in April. “We feel really good about our involvement and hopefully some folks will see our tasty treats and will become customers down the road”, says Marrella.

In February of this year, Fruitflowers™ teamed up with Nemours a division of A.I. du Pont Children’s Hospital, the nation’s largest children’s health system. Participating FruitFlowers™ locations will be making donations to Nemours’ 5-2-1 Almost None Campaign to Reduce Childhood Obesity. “This is our largest fundraiser to date and we are extremely excited about the journey we are on with Nemours in an effort to reach the campaign goal over the next year”, says Marrella. Ask how you can help when contacting your local FruitFlowers™ store.
