On the front cover are just a few of the many women that we have met, and on the inside you will find short profiles on each of these women.  In the future months we will be doing more profiling of women from different walks of life.

Crystal Gooding began as a Wedding Planner and Banquet Manager in New York City. Although her background is in Economics and IT, she has always had a love for travel. She found when working with the Bride and Groom either as their Wedding Planner or Banquet Manager, her conversation always led to “Where have you decided to go for your honeymoon?” If not planned, Crystal would always do some investigation on her own and advise the couple on location and best value for their honeymoon.

With Crystal’s 18 years of experience in the Hospitality Industry, she has tackled simple and complicated requests. With each request she looks forward to taking the journey with her client as she customizes their vacation.

Crystal has earned certificates as a Destination Wedding Specialist, Honeymoon Specialist, and Spa Destination Specialist just to name a few. Linda Parkowski

Director of Tourism, State of DE

Linda is the current Director of Tourism for the State of Delaware based in the Economic Development Office. She has managed one of the largest conference facilities in the Delaware the Sheraton Dover Hotel for many years prior to accepting her current position.

Linda has always believed in giving back to her industry and has served on many Boards, task forces and commissions. She has held leadership positions such as Chairman Governors Tourism Advisory Board, President Kent County Tourism Corporation, Chairman Delaware Hotel Lodging Association and Chairman Delaware Tourism Alliance. Parkowski was awarded the Governor’s Tourism Awareness Award, recognizing her significant contribution in promoting the benefits of tourism to Delaware’s residents.

In her new position she is responsible for selling the state’s strengths to targeted markets and industry decision-makers nationwide and also responsible for recruiting tourism-related businesses and jobs to the state. She will also recruit major events to attract more overnight visitors to the state of Delaware.

Being the founder and director of Carey Medispa has been Cindy’s passion since moving to Delaware in 1985. She and her husband, plastic surgeon Dr. Asher Carey established the most advanced Medispa in the area. Their goal is to enhance skin health in both surgical and nonsurgical patients, improving appearances, and making patients feel better. Cindy enjoys research as well as the hands on care of her patients.

A native of New Orleans, Cindy worked as a critical care nurse at Charity Hospital and at Vanderbilt Medical Center. She is an active member of the Society of Plastic Surgery Skin Care Specialists, and a nurse volunteer for the American Red Cross. She treasures time with her husband and four children, ages 16-21. Music is a passion they all share, and she likes to maintain balance through the practice and study of martial arts. Pam Marecki

Without the encouragement of family and friends, Pam Marecki might not be in the role she enjoys today as Assistant Vice President of Marketing Communications at Bayhealth Medical Center. Pam launched her career at WKEN radio in Dover as a newscaster and in the early 1980s accepted a position as marketing director at Dover Federal CU.  In 1989, she was hired as a public relations assistant at Kent General Hospital and the rest is history as Pam continued her education and career advancement at Kent General – now part of Bayhealth Medical Center.

Pam believes in community involvement. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Kent Division of the American Heart Association; Dover Federal CU Board of Directors; Colonial Rotary Club of Dover; and Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce Leadership Central Delaware Board Member.

Pam and her husband, Ed, have been married for 29 years. Their 24-year-old daughter Laura is completing her master’s in secondary education.

Born and raised in Delaware, Charlene is the owner of Webb Insurance Agency for Allstate Insurance Company. She graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a BS degree in Business Education.

Charlene began her career as a counselor for the Goldey Beacom Business Training Center in Wilmington and later took a position with the YWCA of Delaware where she started off as a teacher for the Youth Residential Program, was later promoted to the Director of that program and ended her career there as the Director of Victim Services.

Her goal then became educating families–specifically women–on the importance of being financially stable by preparing not only for today but for their futures. She established her agency with Allstate in 2003 and has been blessed to see women maintaining their families financially and being prepared for life’s little emergencies.

She is the wife and mother of three children, a faithful member and Deaconess of New Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and an annual participant of the Allstate Annual Giving Campaign which donates money to local non-profit organizations in the community. Charlene uses her business as an avenue to reach those in need of hope for a brighter future.

Chef Tara is a graduate of the Culinary Arts program from Delaware Technical and Community College in Stanton, DE. She has worked in many fine establishments, including Krazy Kats at the Inn of Montchanin in Wilmington, DE and Rehoboth Country Club in Rehoboth Beach, DE. She has been employed by Dover Downs Hotel & Casino for eight and half years, and has been instrumental in the planning of the new Festival Buffet, Michele’s and Room Service with layout, staffing, training and menu development. She has been a key player in keeping the quality and consistency of food and service in Michele’s/Room Service over the past five years.

Chef Tara oversees the operation of Michele’s restaurant, Room Service Operations, Commissary Production, Sweet Perks Coffee Shop and Sweet Perks Too Coffee Shop at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino.

Chef Tara is a mother of two children, a wife to Eric Kazimir and resides in Harrington, DE.

Sharonlynn Tassone. Was born and raised in Delaware. Sharonlynn attended Padua Academy and Goldey Beacom College. She has been married to her husband Vito for 36 years.  They have two children, two grandchildren and another one on the way.

Sharonlynn has been involved in the business world for over 30 years working in her family owned concrete construction business, Delaware’s banking system and also as a junior partner in a local investment firm. Sharonlynn is partners with her daughter Rose in a unique and distinctive women’s boutique called Jewelry Diva Gifts, where they strive to create a warm and welcoming environment so their customers can enjoy their time with them. Many refer to Jewelry Diva Gifts as retail therapy, seeing as how they lift the mood of many of our female shoppers before sending them back home to their families.
