careymd08In television and magazine articles, younger woman get plenty of attention. Anyone following the cosmetic surgery and cosmetic medicine trend over the years knows that there is rapidly increasing interest from more mature women to look their best. Lifestyles have changed, and women are finding time for themselves after the children have left for college or they have retired.

Breast improvement is a frequent area requested by older women. It may surprise you to know that many women request breast reductions. At a certain point, relaxation of the support of the breast plus the weight becomes painful in some women. Neck, back and shoulder pains can be severe enough to interfere with activities. Large breasts make shopping for clothing that fits difficult. Breast reduction is a safe, rapid treatment. Shorter scars mean quicker recovery, and most of our patients are back to routine activities within several days and more rigorous activities in two to three weeks. Nearly 100% have no further discomfort. Reshaping of the breast results in a more youthful contour. Suddenly clothing fits better, especially summer attire and winter sweaters no longer seem too tight. The amount of reduction needed is discussed with each patient and individualized to meet her needs.

Other women need reshaping, but no decrease in size, commonly known as a breast lift. As the name indicates, the breast is indeed lifted and reshaped into a more youthful contour. Fullness is restored as well as projection by this method, although more women are also choosing to add a small saline or silicone gel implant as well. A small incision is closed after adjusting the skin access. Routine activity is allowed after a few days, back to work in one week or so, and to the gym in two to three weeks.

Enhancing the breasts balances the curves of their waist and hips resulting in an “hourglass” shape. Some also choose liposuction or tummy tuck of the waist and stomach region in order to further improve their appearance.

Is 50 the new 30? Many women feel that it is, and choose to restore the shape and volume of the breast that was lost over the years. This improved appearance helps them to fit into clothing they prefer to wear and further enjoy their active lifestyles. New-er techniques allow women to choose the best approach to meet their goals safely, painlessly, and with minimal downtime. My staff and I truly enjoy the woman who chooses to inquire about these or other techniques. We find it just as satisfying as our patients do.

Testimonial:
“Before I decided to have this procedure, which I had thought about for many years, I did tons of research. Dr. Asher Carey came the most highly recommended. During my first consultation he told me what to expect, the seriousness of what I was doing, and made the recommendation of the size that I should be for my slender frame. Would I do it again? Yes, I would. Would I go to Dr. Carey again? Absolutely. My breasts look natural, and I never had one ounce of trouble, not then, and not now, nine years later.” ~P.R., Lewes, DE
