Made in the Shade Designs, LLC is a new business, although we are not new to the business. Carolyn Friedman and Linda Sobieski have come together to create a custom design studio and art gallery in Wilmington, Delaware. We have established a warm and friendly atmosphere for our clients to participate and enjoy the design process.
At Made in the Shade Designs, LLC it is all about custom made products, personal attention and service tailored to your individual needs and budget.
We are very lucky to have longstanding relationships with the best local, workrooms, with sewing technicians and craftsmen, each specializing in their particular area of expertise. We know our business from the ground up. We know how to measure for a treatment, the best fabric to use for a design, how to calculate the materials involved, how to fabricate the product and how to do a proper installation. This comes from years of experience in the trade. We are always proud of our finished product and you will be, too.
Starting with the latest in beautiful, designer fabrics, trims, decorative hardware, shades, shutters and blinds. We also offer, custom made furniture, upholstering and slipcovers. We are very excited to announce custom made fabrics that are surprisingly affordable, just select your colors and base fabric and “Step on Art” floor mats. Bring us your digital photograph or artwork and you will have a durable, lasting treasure under your feet.
Starting in February, we invite you to “Lunch Is on Us” Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Spend your lunchtime at our studio where you can think and talk about design projects, large and small. Representatives from the top design houses will visit to show and discuss the latest fashion and color trends. You will never go hungry and you will never leave without some good ideas.
We have expanded to include an art gallery. We are always open to discovering new artists, artisans and musicians. We enjoy opening our doors to Wilmington’s Art on the Town Art Loops, which usually take place the first Friday of the month.
As Wilmington natives, ourselves, we enthusiastically support the 
revitalization of downtown Wilmington. In pursuit of our desire to expand the richness of what our city has to offer and inspired by Andrea Clearfield’s, Music Salon she has hosted for 20 years in center city Philadelphia, we plan to host a monthly, petit Music Salon to feature live musical performances in an intimate setting here at Made in the Shade Designs, LLC on Sunday afternoons 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 P.M. We are pleased to have the invaluable assistance of guitarist, bassist, composer and teacher, E. Shawn Qaissaunee (kay-saw’-nee) who will arrange two 45 minute performances with various musical artists.
